Paid Internships

College students can find paid internships. The first place to look for postings is at your college or university Career Services office. If you are looking online, most internship job postings will indicate if paid or not. Some may require that you get credit from your college.

Paid Internships

Certain industries are more likely to have paid internships. These include:

  • Banking
  • Consulting
  • Financial Services
  • Technology
  • Accounting
  • Marketing

Some nonprofit and government internships are unpaid. In addition, the fashion, entertainment and publishing industries have traditionally been unpaid but this trend may be changing.

Pick an internship that would provide you with meaningful work experience in a field that you are passionate about.

If you are most interested in working in a position that is unpaid, consider finding grant money at your school. Some colleges provide grants, scholarships or stipends so that students can do an unpaid internship. Ask your college or university Career Services or Career Resource Center.
